How did I make my first $1000 on social media?

Thank you for visiting my blog. I often get asked how I get paid on my Facebook, Instagram and Blog. Read on to know how I made my first $1000 on the Internet. I am explaining my journey along on how I was able to monetize my blogs and social media posts.

Definitely not an overnight thing

More than patience, it was perseverance that played the role. www.leenachitwan.com is the third blog site I own (started in 2018). The first two didn’t work out because I had no vision attached to them. Before launching the current blog site, I made myself active on social media. I consciously started putting up content on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn in 2015. It took me five long years to get noticed by brands.

Money could be a motivation, but address an issue first

If you’re motivated to create content by watching bloggers and social media influencers… think twice. Getting inspiration from others is a great idea, but discover your purpose first. Why do you want to create content? Why are you on social media? Are you addressing an issue? Are you helping anyone feel better? Ask these questions to yourself!

Be you; social media is your reflection

When I was working for media that served news, I would put a lot of socio-political posts on my social media. I gradually realized that political content is not my thing, and my thought/opinion on national-international issues doesn’t matter at all.

Social media reflects your personality, put content that speaks your life.

Instead of spreading information, tell stories

Everybody knows what to do. But when you start talking about what you’ve done, that creates an impact. That’s when you establish yourself as a brand. Your social media is your biggest PR tool, be thoughtful about your posts.

Give your 100% at what you do

Your growth as an influencer is directly proportional to your professional graph. The more you excel in your career, the better is your presence on social media. People who know you as a professional would want to follow your content. On top of that, those who’ve seen you both online offline are your promoters.

You can’t ignore the importance of networking

You don’t have to talk a lot and be an extroverted one to build a strong network. You won’t have to make a million conversations to grow your network. One of the right things that I did on the journey was, I built my presence on several influencer platforms where brands offered me collaboration opportunities.

The gist is — work on yourself first and create that brand value for yourself. Once you accept yourself as a brand, others will start seeing you like one. Start making pitches on platforms like LinkedIn, Fiverr, Intellifluence, Upwork, Upfluence, etc. There are hundreds of influencer platforms; read reviews before signing up.

You don’t need a hundred thousand followers to get paid by brands. Small-scale brands look for influencers who have 1000+ followers. More than follower count, it’s the authenticity of your profile, content, and followers that matters.

My first brand collaboration was of $100 for a blog in November 2019. I made $1000 on blog, Facebook, and Instagram in the next six months.

I am able to make some bucks out of my internet presence even without making it a priority. If I can, you can!
